Updates: Spring is Beginning and I Feel Fine

I suppose the end of Winter and start of Spring always feels like a long time coming so to say it sounds cliche but for me this year it has rung even more truthfully this time around.  I felt like this was going to be an epic year because I was finally going to go to ICELAND!  I’ve been dreaming of setting foot there almost as long as I knew Bjork existed.

Melissa in Gozo - Gozo IslandGozo blew my mind!

Then Jen said she was going to visit me again and we’d travel out of the UK.  So I had less of a wait for amazing adventures to begin.  I feel that Malta had set the bar incredibly high but lucky I went to Iceland as my next trip because it more than lives up to any expectations I could have had.

I have so many things I want to tell you about the places I’ve been and now that I’m taking a bit of a travel break until May I hope to get up to speed on here.  I still have tales from France and all of my Ireland trip to talk about!  I also did a road trip in October around Kent with friends that I want to share.

Besides the travel front things personally have been nothing short of special.  I don’t tend to blog about my family or my wonderful boyfriend because I don’t want to put them on here and them not be happy that I’ve shared information about them.  It would of course only be travel related but still, just because I share my life doesn’t mean they want/have to.  However, when it comes to my boyfriend he’s given me the go ahead ages ago but some things you just want to keep for yourself.  This one thing however is consuming me so I’ve got to share.

When I returned from Malta, the next day David proposed.  I’m engaged folks.

So yeah, there you have it me being a tiny bit more open about my actual personal life.  That is where it stops though.  I won’t be blogging about weddings or the story of how he proposed or anything else.  Well maybe the honeymoon as we want to go on a safari and are looking at Botswana and Namibia.  So, if you have tips PLEASE SHARE them below.

Besides finding those details a bit tedious to read (weddings, proposals etc.) I want to keep them for me, my close friends and family.  I also recognize that anyone can come across this blog so I will only put on here what I am 100% comfortable with anyone reading and I am comfortable with this.

Finally, a new personal project of mine that I’ve been meaning to do for some time now is sell my photos.  I have managed to set up a blog but I have not yet set up an online place to actually purchase anything.  It is all coming shortly but in the mean time if you are interested please do pop over to Black Bee Photography and show me some love.

I don’t expect you to be my customers but if you don’t promote yourself who will?  The blog’s purpose however is solely to showcase my photography.  I will be breaking down my pictures and giving a bit more behind the actual photo besides purely documentation of my travels/explorations.

Lots of beginnings for me this year.  Hope the year is turning out well for you all so far.

Thanks! Are you still hoping to make it to England this year? We can do a cheap and cheerful afternoon tea or something like that.

Yes. Waiting for my friend to let me know her wedding date. But who knows, maybe 2 trips over there is in the cards…

Sounds good. I shall be ‘stuck’ in the country from September depending on how long it takes the gov’t to process my visa so I will be in need of distractions from that fact!

Thanks!! I need to do more foodie things, well I want to so hopefully that will also be on the blog a bit more.

  3. Well, cheers! (A lovely couple with such nice smiles)
There is a lot on your plate to do now. The photo site sounds like a great idea – you always have wonderful pictures of so many places.
Best wishes for all your new trails

Thanks Phil! Yes it is a bit overwhelming, how do people know how to plan and have a wedding?! I’m hoping to focus more and more on my photography so hope readers here like that blog too.

  4. Aww, I came across this post by searching for ‘Venice’ on your blog because I hope I’m heading there in August (by way of London! Lol.) A belated congratulations!

    1. Melissa says:

Thanks! Well there is a ‘venice’in London and that is on my blog. Also thanks!!

    2. Melissa says:

      I see you found it!

      1. Yup, I found it! I’ll write about my trip to Venice, Italy and hopefully check out Little Venice in London too. Have you been to Barcelona? Also, I just followed you on Instagram.

        1. Melissa says:

I have been to Barca and I blogged about it. I am going to arrange my posts better so they are easier to find. I’ve been meaning to do it but now I have incentive.

          1. Actually doing a search of your blog is pretty easy, as long as you tagged “Barcelona” I think. Organizing is a good idea though.

            1. Melissa says:

Yes it is tagged, more like highlight some of the things I’ve done so even if you didn’t think you were looking for it you could find something else.

              1. Great idea. Because I really would only deliberately search for some place I’m going, to get ideas. I’ll look for your Barca post(s).

              2. Hi Melissa. I finally put my “London” post up. Let me know what you think.
